A British expat who claims to not have sex status is believed to be the first person in the world who does not have a formally recognized gender as a category of male or female .
Norrie May - Welby ( 48 ) was born into the world as a man . However , he then decided to perform genital surgery in 1990 at the age of 28 years . After that , he was not happy being a woman and Norrie finally decided to become a person who does not have sex . As a result , he is now officially recognized as someone who does not have a specific gender .
May - Welby had moved to Australia at the age of seven years . He was born and raised in Paisley , Renfrewshire town , England .
British government refused to issue a birth certificate to Norrie for failing to create a new classification for the status of citizens without gender . In addition , doctors also claim could not determine the sex of the expat body .
