The Tomb Of The Husband And Wife Who Goes Hand In Hand
Few years ago, you saw a tomb of love. Tomb where the man who almost married pair reunited at last after years of death are separated on their wedding day.
This time there is a tomb that also has a unique love story in the Netherlands. The tomb is separated by a wall and at the end of the cemetery headstone, there is a pair of hands holding each other. That said, it symbolizes the hands of husband and wife who was laid there.
JCPH Aefferden Catholic , married to a Dutch colonel named JWC van Gorcum . Love unites the two in a marriage despite their different beliefs . The wedding took place in 1842 when JWC van Gorcum 33 -year -old and 22 -year -old Aefferden JCPH .
After 58 years of marriage , Colonel van Gorcum gone before her and buried in the Protestant cemetery . At that time , Christian and Catholic graves are completely separate and can not co-exist . Therefore when JCPH Aefferden died 8 years later , the woman was buried in the family cemetery , but across the separation wall , in the closest place to her husband .
